My husband and I have always been lovers of The Rossi, a trendy yet comfortable (burger joint) on the corner of High Street and – in the Short North. We used to frequent it much more than I would like to admit, but since our two kiddos came along, we’ve had to take a break. While I am sure they would be accommodating to kids, it’s the perfect night location so we typically choose to go sans kids. We also love to eat at their ‘art deco-style’ bar which is always buzzing – and this just doesn’t really happen when you have a one and four year old.

On this particular evening, we decided to check out Wine on High’s 20 for 20 tasting which was an incredibly fun experience. If you’ve never been to this popular event, I highly encourage you to check it out on the third Thursday of each month. We had so much fun trying wine from different wineries and regions – and for the price, you don’t feel guilty about not trying all twenty! We even split a tasting (since we are not as young and fun as we used to be) and our heads were spinning with everything we had learned from their wine experts on staff.

The Rossi is perfectly situated right down the street from Wine on High which made it the ideal way to cap off our evening. The atmosphere is classy and intimate – yet comfortable and casual – which was the perfect way for us to wind down after some wine tasting.

Our meal was perfect – and if we went back again tomorrow, I am pretty sure I would place the same order. We shared the Baked Egg, Grilled Lamb Lollipops and the Rossi Burger – and all were just as delicious as their appearance. The Baked Egg literally melts in your mouth – made complete with a parmesan and white truffle cream and bread for dipping.

The Grilled Lamb Lollipops were almost too pretty to eat, but I am so glad we did. They come served with a carrot jam, sage and parsley oil.

And the burger. For the past 6 years, my husband has told basically everyone that he knows that the Rossi Burger is one of the best in Columbus – almost a hidden gem tucked away on their menu. This particular burger did not disappoint – and served with their basically famous Yukon Gold Fries, it was a perfect meal.

They also offer a full bar with a variety of local beers on tap – and a fairly impressive wine list.

So while we may check this place out with our kids down the road (when they’re just a bit older), we’ll definitely be keeping this on our list for ‘nights we have a babysitter’ – and will cherish every minute… and bite.

Dining Tips

The Rossi also has a fantastic New York style pizza (either margarita or build-your-own) that I’d highly recommend. Also, be sure to check out their killer happy hour Tuesday – Friday from 4 – 7 p.m.
